Re: instant noodles

NOOO thats so sad ... okay it might be a longshot but you could try and get ahold of a mi goreng pack that might scratch your itch for the seafood, sweet, savory, spicy flavor? koka also does one and its nice, I just like spice.

ok yeah the indomie mi goreng packs are easy to find here and ...

for some reason, once my local grocery store stopped carrying it, it became near-impossible to find anywhere else. and i guess it makes sense… it is kind of a pain to make – you need to cook it on the stove for it to come out ...

Re: random encounters

Re: random encounters

oh this reminds me of something that happened to me recently!

so, a few years ago, back when i started working at the place i still currently work, i frequently had people asking me if i also worked at the starbucks inside the grocery store nearby. when i told them that i didn't, they'd say that ...

Re: Host it yourself

you know, every so often i've considered running something public-facing off my home network. but for as much as the idea of hosting personal items off my personal hardware appeals to me, the idea of having it traceable back to my home ip spooks me just enough to not bother going through with it ...

as for the track itself, tongai moyo seems to have an unusual approach to song structure where melodic lines arrive, get fixated on, and then leave to perhaps return later. it's easy to vibe along with, even if it's harder to then piece the ...

Re: Music in Languages You Don't Understand

oh shit it's time to shill chimurenga / sungura / jit / etcetera.

there's something about this branch of zimbabwean popular music that really tickles my melodic sensibilities. i never knew there could be so many inventive ways of weaving melodies around a backbone of exactly one chord progression ...

Re: idiosyncratic input devices that you use

it's not all that unusual but i've gotten used to having a mouse with too many buttons on it.

it started years ago when i bought a logitech g604 (6 macro keys on the left side) for cheap on ebay to replace the beige microsoft one i had before that.. i could take screenshots and mute my microphone ...

idiosyncratic input devices that you use

a thread for those who heard Think Different and took it as a challenge

as a creature that is driven by discontent as much as by novelty, i enjoy trying out different ways of being every so often just for their own sake. one day this'll get me into hot water, but until then i like to think that ...

Re: Project management tools

For personal research, journaling, and any form of sysadmin administration I need to do for my home network (writing down IP tables, processes, documenting my setup) I like to use Logseq. It's an Obsidian-like knowledge manager project, but it's FOSS. It's still quite early in its development, so ...

favorite finds of 2024

whatever the fate of this community may be, let's at least try to make it through the year, ne? and with this being the season of spotify wrappeds and such, i think it could be fun to talk about our favorite stuff that we've discovered this year.

over the course of the year i've listened to ...

i still can't get over this video… the dude managed to take a game that i'd never heard of and probably wouldn't care about if i had and, in an hour, make it something that i now care deeply about the survival of and which i kinda wanna try out for myself now too. it feels like the ...

Re: The Stranger

ah, that takes me back… i remember having to read the stranger for an existentialism class in college, and then one period of reflection and an hour staring at a ficus later, i got it. or, at least i got it to the extent that anyone in college gets anything, which is probably no more or less ...
