Wow! Remember when I wrote about form factors? That was in April. Amazing. The world keeps turning, and the gaiden chapters continue. Since that time I succumbed to my illness and continued to collect devices. The most recent one is the Analogue Pocket. I actually tried to cancel when I realised at the last second that it isn't going to support RetroAchievements but then it was too late, the luxury experience was already insured, sent first class worldwide next-day delivery and at my door at the mere suggestion, like Beetlejuice.

There is something about that screen, though... here's a sample of the grayscale LCD, the GBC and the original GBA display modes.

It's got a surprising heft and it's a bit bigger than you'd expect, so Game Boy games — since they perfectly integer scale into the screen — look way too HD. I didn't realise how desaturated the GBA was compared to the GBA-SP with the backlight — but I really do prefer and remember it that muted.

I just had to then catalogue what I wanted to even play. I didn't really want to do big long SNES games on this; I wanted to keep it to handheld devices that were pre-PS1. Have you explored the GB/C/A catalogue much?

I collected a lot of Pokemon romhacks I meant to go through and do on hard mode or Nuzlocke; for Final Fantasy I got FF1+2 and FF6A, and FFTA. I was told to grab For Whom The Frog Tolls (or similar title), Link's Awakening, and of course Tetris DX. I got all the Fire Emblem GBA games. I got Advance Wars 1+2, and Mega Man Battle Network. Apparently there's a Love Hina Advance, so I got that. I remember there being a Higurashi version, but not sure how to get those ROMs and if they're translated.

I was surprised by how many GBA games I could find that I wanted, and how few GB and GBC games I actually seemed to care about. And yet there are so many! So I want to ask if there's any that come to your mind, and what you remember from childhood getting really into, too.
