Re: instant noodles
for some reason, once my local grocery store stopped carrying it, it became near-impossible to find anywhere else. and i guess it makes sense… it is kind of a pain to make – you need to cook it on the stove for it to come out right – and the smell is rather seafoody… but it has such a nice mixture ...

instant noodles
What is your favorite brand of instant noodles? I like Koka instant noodles and my favorite flavor of theirs is spicy stir fry, the original flavor. It comes with a flavor oil and a nice pleasantly spicy pack of powder that makes me wanna sneeze whenever I open it. I ordinarily gussy up the spice ...

Re: random encounters
i have no clue how the hell to make that conversion when one of the parties involved is standing behind a register, you know?
i was just there yesterday morning to pick up post-surgery meds, but apparently she wasn't there, and i was still so doped up from sedation that there was no way of coming ...

random encounters
my most recent one was meeting a very pretty girl in the town centre and inviting her to come have scones and jam and tea with me at a friend's house. it was a very nice day out, and she crossed up the path i was taking. and i took a second before i turned around and started talking to her, and she ...

Re: Digicams! Discussion and Photos
Wow she seems really cool, I love how this site looks.
I ended up zooming in on this one pentax model specifically because of the grit and graininess in low light and b/w photographs it seems to have. Plus, all the extra features compared to anything else of a similar class, esp the ISO options.

Re: Digicams! Discussion and Photos
I dunno when people started saying it either, its just the word I've been seeing thrown around. Google trends says there was a big spike in usage in 1980-81, tapering off to nothing by 1984. Then steady growth to a peak from 1990 to 2003, then a decline, and finally we're in an uptick of usage since ...

Digicams! Discussion and Photos
In the past few years there has been a trend of Gen Z (see: me) people getting into digital cameras from the 90s and 2000s. The cutoff date for the r/vintagedigitalcameras subreddit is 2010. Others flock to them because they can have a grainy, film-like look, and thats part of it for me, but you can ...

Re: Host it yourself
So, update:
My new website lives at https://iruyz.fr.eu.org/ , using darkhttpd on slackware 15. I have had to deal with a variety of asspains like powercuts knocking everything over and needing to reconnect to wifi, shuffle around dns, update IPs because my darn ISP doesn't give me an option for a ...

Re: Host it yourself
So in the past few days I took my old Thinkpad T430 and set it up with slackware 15 with the goal to host a website. So far, I've set up the box, SSH and port forwarding. So as I type this where I am sitting in Spain, I can SSH into the machine in England. I think that is super cool. I spent time ...

Re: Concertgoers, Inc.
I saw Slowdive in Montreal with maru last week. First concertgoing experience so I'm in the club now!! I wrote a little bit about it in my trip report, but here's some more detail and some pictures.
So, the setlist was the same save for the encore. They didn't do a cover of Golden Hair like they ...

Re: Lenten sacrifices
During Lent last year I stopped using my noise-canceling headphones. I felt I was using them to block my family out. I also felt like I was locking myself away too readily. I was told as much by one of my folks who was agitated I wasn't hearing when asked about something or not hearing any knocking ...

Part 2: Gravity
I’m sitting in the Costa coffee at London Liverpool Street sipping a cortado and hugging my backpack to my chest. This is the first real chance I’ve had to sit and decompress. I was out in the big cold main room of the station and ate a pack of crisps and a shitty breakfast ...

Montreal Trip Report
Part 1: Stencil
I was in Montreal from the 20th and the 29th. It was a gift to me from my most cherished friend maru. The following is a breakdown of the whole week and a bit, as much as I can line up and haven’t accidentally let slip my mind. Sorry if you were there and anything is out of order ...
