I just saw Megalopolis.
Coppola knows filmmakers who use subtext and they're all cowards.
It has the visual metaphor of a Ikuhara piece and the artistry of a middle school play. The most striking visuals you will ever see paired with the most wooden performances. It is a stage play; a melodrama; it moves from set to set with some sets being New York City itself. It can be heard from the cheap seats and seen from orbit. It is as historical as Marc Antony, in both senses. I don't know if you'll like it; I don't know if I like it. But it will be remembered.
