Re: Recent Albums

I gave some time to Techno Animal's Re-Entry and was disappointed. The first half is long and the beats are repetitive, things which I wouldn't ordinarily complain about. If the sampling didnt feel so dated, these detailed and worked over tracks wouldn't irritate me so much. But no, it blusters away...

Re: playlist creation

I've been chewing on a new playlist for a few weeks and finally spit out a final tracklist yesterday. The sequence could be smoother, with more lead in, more shared elements, but I think it is okay. Its good enough to post, anyway. My information diet is very sparse right now; im not listening to a ...

Re: Music scrap thread

im a huge huge fan of desert2f. the name and style calls yume nikki imagery to mind. i feel the emotion in it for sure. thank you. ive been hammering on this one idea for way too long and i have to bring it to some sort of conclusion soon. I hope to during next month ... ive been playing around a b...

Re: playlist creation

As I started writing this post I was only halfway through the mix, and through my little drafts it ended. I like it a lot. The arc is just right, the sense of the intensity burning off, leaving behind this one, important thing. It's great, it hits in a familiar way, but its also very you, maru. I fo...

Re: emacs thread

[snip] Nope I'm just using from my browser right now; best option for GNUS integration seems like running a phpBB <-> NNTP gateway, like this https://github.com/jpm/papercut one which was written in Python 2 and doesn't appear to have been touched in 20 years lol. What did you use to get fedi in Em...

Re: emacs thread

Based as hell, I've actually been procrastinating on posting to Paralogue because was trying to figure out how to interact with phpBB from GNUS lol Did you figure it out, getting phpBB to work in GNUS? Or are you using a setup like watermoon seems to have, with w3m? I have never used emacs as my ne...

Re: Japan travelogue thread

I didn't realise you felt that way — I feel like we're not supposed to, though? Like it means something bigger than just post-travel blues. Shouldn't everything feel "right"? I suppose it depends. On family holidays, I was certainly relieved to be home on a few occasions. But those there ...

Re: Japan travelogue thread

I apologize it took me so long to write this. A day after your last post, I made a note and jotted down ideas that I’d hoped to finish by Saturday. It's been a week since then and. Clearly I got very distracted. This was an excellent thread and I enjoyed all of the pictures, everything you had to sa...

Re: game dev bulletin board

[...] i really am getting better at this stuff. i hope in 5 years i am at another higher skill level, but i am hoping the gap in understanding isn't as big. it'd be nice to think i'm developing the 'write for ...

Re: Cooking Thread

Tonight I made my first batch of seitan following instructions by chinese cooking demystified and it turned out tiny. I believe I didnt knead it enough and perhaps was too rough when washing it to get at the gluten. Either way though, I used it in a really quick stir fry and it was delicious. I took...

Re: bikes and scooters thread

A day or so ago my dad and I went to get a new scooter: a yamaha d'elight from 2017. It won't be replacing my current bike, as its a little less powerful. It was stolen and recovered, but as of now needs cosmetic work, a replacement mirror, and some wiring redone before it will be roadworthy again. ...

Re: Cooking Thread

Tonight I baked some chinese meatballs. I've made them a bunch of times and they taste very good, but they look like hot ass so I didn't take a picture. Sorry :( Here's the recipe, though! These are tasty and I hope you enjoy making them. /+++/+++/+++/+++/+++\+++\+++\+++\+++\ Pork Meatballs Ingredie...

Re: bikes and scooters thread

this bike doesn't exist anymore but here's some pics... [snip] as for the usb port, it was very easy! since the versys is an adventure bike, it already has leads in order to plug in accessories like optional fog lights that mount to the engine bars. i did need to get the accessory relay since it's ...

Re: Music scrap thread

i guess i tried to uwu pureceiling_prot_20240829.mp3 [...] still, i can't say that i'm displeased with it. i think there's something nice in here; i'm just not sure how to draw it out with this chip.
