Re: Recent Albums
im a fan of shudder to think's album Funeral at the Movies and I think it is almost end to end great songs, but, the album they released after it might be better?? I am still digesting it, but Get Your Goat is so weird and unusual with these crazy moments of dissonance but also very pretty harmony a...

Re: bikes and scooters thread
During this month: I replaced the light switch and indicator switch, as they were both faulty. This involved rewiring the light switch as it had been previously badly rewired with a switch from a different model that had ceased to work. Replacing the indicator was crazy easy, but I broke a nail whil...

Re: Kushimoto
there's nothing more important than just being here right now enjoying the day. i love that sensation. being present, talking to strangers who like to talk back, feeling like a little blip in their life for a while, then moving on. i dunno if its exclusive to the slow, small coastal town, but thats...

Tall buildings and bustle and heat ... energy ... I think there is a broad recognition among ppl our age, of some lack, and from that a desire for greater density in the US and UK. I hope something happens that makes it real, some building boom or massive expansion.

Re: emacs thread
when you write everything in your init.el it's more easily portable to other systems. you don't need to manually reinstall every external package if you manage it all in a bunch of (use-package) blocks. because my main concern when using emacs wasnt reproducibility across systems, or specializing e...

Re: emacs thread
I have a history with emacs that led me to explore the content it was shipped with which eventually ended with loading my entire custom config into the custom.el gui. That was the last big thing i ever did with it. I really love its menus and customization gui too, and im curious what keeps people a...

Re: hello world
You should do it, maru! That would be a neat thread. I hope you enjoy the trip!! I spent all day figuring out the issue with my bike and kludging it to work which I posted about earlier. I'm gonna go to a junkyard or something, try and find some parts before resorting to buying anything stupid expen...

Re: bikes and scooters thread
The story so far: The dipped headlight on my bike was not working correctly. High beam worked, main beam didnt. I pulled it apart yesterday and replaced the bulb, but it still didnt work when I tested it, so I gave up for the day. Today I pulled it apart again. My dad and I tested the bulb and vario...

Re: bikes and scooters thread
God, my bike is annoying to pull apart. you gotta take four panels off before you can even think about accessing anything electrical. I suppose it makes sense, to keep it all dry, but its so so so annoying; above all else, removing the footboard is the most annoying shit ever. It is this rubbery pla...
